good
Read all the multi-packs and shorts packs long ago, since 2012. The author has gotten better with age/practice. I've read almost all of the Cooper stories (1 - 230) and several of Mr. Bernico's short stories and most have not disappointed me. You'll find some poorly written or predictable stories, but for the most part they are fair to good. The Cooper series are better, but there's a few stinkers, too. They're great for a coffee break or a few minutes to relax.
awesome short stories
I enjoy all this short.Story s, they very interesting, t h e I'll r humorous, well written and never boring try them you'll get hooked.
Love the writing, might be in love with Matt.
But there are a few problems. These stories take place in the late 1940s. People didn't talk about and writers didn't write about lesbians, rape, and abuse back then. I like my stories to be historically correct, and these stories are not. A few other discrepancies slip in too. We didn't have wall phones until the 1960s (unless we are talking about the really old wall phones where you called the operator, and I don't think we are). And mid century writers certainly didn't write casually about tongue kissing in nice stories! Oh, and the explicit autopsy scene and the barfing! Those are relatively new additions to crime writing, additions I can do without. No one has suggested that Amy (all women) is a delicate little woman which would have been in keeping with the late 1940s.
The author, being a guy, left out something important! The first thing a woman is going to talk about after getting engaged is a wedding date!
I really do like these stories in spite of its flaws, and plan to read other stories about Matt Cooper.
