It's fair to say that Ishii and Honma are two of the most unlikely wrestlers to ever become stars big enough to find themsevles headlining a New Japan event, contesting a vacant title. Neither were a home-grown talent, both started at the lowest point of the pecking order you can be whilst not being a Young Lion, and both have an unconventional wrestling style. Yet, it all came together in an alchemical blend to create a five-star match in the eyes of Dave Meltzer.
