OVERVIEW: In this episode of "the Mentee speaks", Mrs Jagruti Raval takes us through her experience as a Mentee and how this relationship has helped her excel in her career as a HR Lead in a notable NGO in India. Mrs Raval revealed that she has both personal and professional mentors; the former being her husband and sister and the latter her Senior colleague. She mentioned that she realised she needed a mentor when she was faced by some challenges in her workplace. Her mentor being a senior colleague, with more experience helped her to weather those challenges. Mrs Jagruti Raval told us a few challenges she has had to face in the course of her work including the ability to manage age dynamics within the workplace as a young lady. Also the issue of insecurity in some states and her ability to travel often as required by her job/employer. SUMMARY: Most times, people struggle to find someone who can guide them as they set out on a new task or career. Our previous discussion on this topic revealed the importance of a mentor/mentee relationship which includes improving professional or personal life. This topic provides an in depth knowledge into the experiences of mentees who have engaged with their mentors, how easy it was to get one, what challenges they were able to overcome and lots more.
