Facebook, the parent company of the incredibly popular apps - Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, and Instagram - has recently rebranded to Meta and announced a shift in the company's direction to focus on the metaverse.



Since the announcement, the internet has been abuzz with pretty much everyone talking, and speculating, about the metaverse.



To better understand what the metaverse is and why Facebook rebranded to Meta, I spoke to Derya Matras -  VP Middle East, Africa, and Turkey at Meta.
