In 1986, Mexico imported milk from Europe that had been contaminated by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The milk that arrived in Mexico posed a great threat to the safety of its citizens. As soon as officials discovered that the milk had been exposed to radiation, it was immediately removed from the market and wherever it was located.
