The Russian Revolution of 1917 has long been considered the radical event that changed 20th century world history. Yet the first social revolution of the era took place in Mexico in 1910. In Arise!: Global Radicalism in the Era of the Mexican Revolution, Christina Heatherton reveals how the revolution in Mexico inspired activists, organizers, and feminists throughout the early 1900s.

Christina Heatherton is the Elting Associate Professor of American Studies and Human Rights at Trinity College. She is an American Studies scholar and historian of anti-racist social movements.
