November 11, 2019Bringing Humanity Back To The Human ExperienceI am fresh out of 10 days of Dynamo Doula training with Angel Phoenix Arsenal AKA @the_angela_gallo on IG and I am experiencing ALL OF THE FEELS. It has fired me up so much and I feel like I am currently stood on the edge of something (haven’t worked out what yet) that is going to cause such a huge shift and change in my life but also in the birthing world. This course was not just doula training, infact we didn’t learn any of the usual stuff you’d see in typical doula training, it was about bringing humanity back to the human experience, from birth to death and everything in between. It’s about learning to love ourselves so that we can love others. It’s about living in our natural state of ecstasy, something we are capable of creating when we care for ourselves in the right ways. Also some pretty big news to share with you, that I hope you will see as a positive step, it’s me living my commitment to my mission...more15minPlay
October 12, 2019My experience of Post Traumatic Stress as a Student MidwifeThis episode comes with a trigger warning as I talk about baby loss and suicidal thoughts. This is my story of post traumatic stress triggered after a difficult day on placement, the subsequent difficulty of accessing the right help and diagnosis and finally the profound impact of the continuity of support received as a student from a team of caseload midwives. How love, support and encouragement from likeminded midwives aided my healing and made me the midwife I am today. If you have been affected by anything in this episode please talk to someone, reach out to your personal tutor, mentor or anyone that you feel safe talking to at the university or placement. You can access support through the Samaritans on 116 123 or email [email protected]. SANDS charity have some great resources for anyone effected by loss including birth professionals that I also found very helpful, they currently have a leaflet you can access online titled ‘Supporting Midwives Supporting Parents’. As always, please reach out to me if you wanted to share anything or talk, my email is [email protected] or you can find me on Instagram @michalamarling...more20minPlay

October 04, 2019Prioritising YOU - A message for Midwifery StudentsSelf care is not selfish, self care is a priority. Before you can look after women, before you can help them step into their power, you need to do that for YOURSELF!! Prioritise you and the care you are able to provide and the learning you experience will be a more positive experience. See self care like you see sleep and food and hydration, they are a NECESSITY, they are NOT a luxury!! I highly recommend looking up Erika & Angel and having a listen to their podcasts, you will NOT regret it. Erika’s is called ‘The Confidence Chronicles’ and Angel’s is ‘Slaying the Status Quo in Total Style’... both of these women are changing the world for women around the globe, they are epic and you will ADORE them!! If you want to get in touch you can reach me at [email protected] ❤️...more10minPlay

I never once questioned if I was doing the right thing, not once in the 8 years it took me to finally reach my goal. I hope this episode will be a little bit of inspiration for those who are starting out with their applications that I know will be being prepared as I type this and I want to send you all my love. YOU’VE GOT THIS!!!! If you want to get in touch my email is [email protected] or you can find me over on Instagram @michalamarling ❤️...more15minPlay
