Als der Nebel unter seiner eigenen Schwerkraft kollabierte, drehte er sich schneller und flachte sich zu einer Scheibe ab. Alle Planeten bildeten sich innerhalb dieser Scheibe. Radioaktive Isotope helfen uns zu wissen, was zur Zeit der Entstehung des Sonnensystems vorhanden war. Die Spuren dieser radioaktiven Isotope in unserem Sonnensystem wirken wie kosmische Zeitkapseln, die die Geheimnisse der Entstehung unseres Sonnensystems enthalten. Ihr Zerfall ermöglicht es den Wissenschaftler*innen, das Alter von Gesteinen und Meteoriten zu messen, was unschätzbare Einblicke in die Chronologie der kosmischen Ereignisse ermöglicht.

The Sun formed about 4.6 billion years ago in a giant, spinning cloud of gas and dust called the solar nebula.
As the nebula collapsed under its own gravity, it spun faster and flattened into a disk. All the planets were formed inside this disc. Radioactive isotopes help us know what was there at the time of the Solar system’s formation. The traces of these radioactive isotopes in our solar system work as cosmic time capsules that hold the secrets of our solar system’s birth. Their decay allows scientists to measure the age of rocks and meteorites, providing invaluable insights into the chronology of cosmic events.
