How well do you actually know yourself?
Self-awareness sounds simple until we start asking whether what we believe about ourselves is actually true.
In MindCompete Foundation #02, Dennis Velasco explores how our strengths, weaknesses, emotions, behavior, feedback from others, and performance under pressure can give us information about who we are, but rarely tell the entire story.
Along the way, he looks at what a race between an old, slow coach and the fastest dribbler in the gym can teach us about understanding our strengths, why one bad performance shouldn’t become an identity, and why thinking about yourself too much can sometimes interfere with performance.
Self-awareness gives us information. It doesn’t execute for us.
Maybe knowing yourself isn’t about arriving at a final answer about who you are. Maybe it’s about staying curious enough to keep finding out.
MindCompete explores competitive performance across sport, leadership, and Life.
