The mystery of the
anointing oil
Exodus
30:22
Then
the LORD said to Moses, 23 “Take
the following fine spices: 500 shekels[a] of liquid myrrh, half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant
cinnamon, 250 shekels[b] of fragrant calamus, 24 500 shekels of cassia—all according
to the sanctuary shekel—and a hin[c] of olive oil. 25 Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a
fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil. 26
Then use it to anoint the tent of meeting, the ark of the covenant law, 27
the table and all its articles, the lampstand and its accessories, the
altar of incense, 28 the altar of burnt offering and all its
utensils, and the basin with its stand. 29 You shall consecrate them
so they will be most holy, and whatever touches them will be holy.
30
“Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate them so they may serve me as
priests. 31 Say to the Israelites, ‘This is to be my sacred
anointing oil for the generations to come. 32 Do not pour it on anyone
else’s body and do not make any other oil using the same formula. It is sacred,
and you are to consider it sacred. 33 Whoever makes perfume like it
and puts it on anyone other than a priest must be cut off from their people.’”
Anointing oil is symbolic-
it’s not magical. It’s not the oil that is special, rather it’s what God does
through its application.
1. Anointing
is for generations
Priests, prophets, kings were
anointed- 1 Samuel 10:1

Anointing was for visibility- Oftentimes it was
done publically on a special ceremony
3. Anointing
oil for recognition of them God has called- 1 Samuel 16:13
1Chronicles 16:22- do not
touch God’s anointed- it’s a principle. Talk about David had an opportunity to
kill Saul and he was urged by his men but David refused because he knew the
anointing principle.

Anointing for a purpose- Luke 4:18

Anointing is for consecration/ set apart- You
are set apart. The tent of meeting was a place of God’s presence. It was like
the temple that was later to be built. But now we are the temple of the Holy
Spirit. We therefore need to be anointed with oil as a
dwelling for
God. Anointing with oil was an invitation for the Holy Spirit to operate on
some one.

Anointing is for revelation – II Corinthians
4:44- Revelation determines elevation – Revelation 3:18 – many eyes look but
few eyes see
7.
Anointing will bring joy- Psalms 45:7, Isaiah
61:1-3
8.
The anointing with oil breaks the yoke- Isaiah
10:27- NKJV- yokes are like stumbling
blocks, burdens, weaknesses curses.

The anointing oil is for healing Mark 6:13,
James 5:14
10. Anointing
with oil is a sign of being marked for the Holy Spirit to operate in and upon
your life. – 1 Samuel 13, Acts 10:38
To lift standards, you need
supernatural enablement- David couldn’t beat goliath by his strength. You can’t
do certain things unless you are anointed. In fact, God has designed that to
serve Him you must be anointed. Exodus 30:30
Anointing accelerates you.
Imagine how much work David had to do to reach the level of sizing up to
Goliath.
This year you are going to do things that don’t look your
size
