EPISODE 142: The MMA Circus, hosted by Nick Baldwin and guest co-host Marvyn Timog, is back for your listening pleasure.
Discussion Topics:
UFC on FOX 26 recap — The UFC made its first trip to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in over four and a half years with last Saturday’s event at Bell MTS Place. In the main event, former champions Robbie Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos squared off. The Brazilian, a small betting favorite, dominated “Ruthless” and picked up a unanimous decision victory. In the co-main event, Josh Emmett pulled off a major upset, knocking Ricardo Lamas out in the first round to claim the No. 5 spot in the UFC featherweight division. Also on the card, Santiago Ponzinibbio defeated Mike Perry by decision, and Glover Teixeira got past Misha Cirkunov with a first-round TKO.
Fan and media turnout at the event — UFC 161, the promotion’s first event in Winnipeg, was a much greater success than UFC on FOX 26 based on attendance and gate earnings. Why, and will that affect the chances of the UFC going back within five years?
