Do not waste your credit
I usually enjoy Julia Llewellyn's books however I struggled with this story.
It just rambled and I had to fast forward it to finish it
Not as expected...
The bio sounded interesting. The bio is misleading. The storyline had good potential which was not exploited. This title may be better if read in paperback but I found the narrated version dreary & disappointing far from the fictional tongue in cheek comedy take on celeb word wars I'd hoped for
That husband, ugh!
It's not often you get a character in a book that bugs you so much, you want to stop listening to the book! The husband in this was so selfish and up himself, that I just kept getting cross and not really caring how the story went.
A nearly-past his prime newsreader leaves his wife for his girlfriend when she becomes pregnant. The first wife uses her journalistic status to snipe at him, long after he has married the girlfriend; but he deserves it, as he continues to play the field, while the second wife questions her abilities as a wife and mother.
A really good read, with a typical male cad!
Enjoyed the book although initially I wanted to shake Poppy but in the end all turns out for the best!
The "not-so" Model Wife
I really enjoyed this book though I had doubts at the start. There is a lovely range of characters from the deserted wife, the conceited but getting-on-a-bit anchor man and his TV colleagues, the girl-friend who is pregnant with \"the bastard\", the diva (was she based on Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell or a hybrid of both?) and the nanny with her fantastic mid-European/Yorkshire accent amongst several others. My only caveat is that I found it hard to believe that any 20+ year old in the second half of the last decade would be as dumb as the titular Model Wife. Still it all ends with everyone getting their \"just\" deserts. Julia Barrie did a great job as the narrator.
