Jesus called him the greatest among men, but John the Baptizer claimed no position or authority other than as the lowest servant of Christ. John presents a model of what it means to be humble in our gospel witness--uncompromising boldness in proclaiming salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone, while always pointing people away from self and toward the Lord Jesus.
