9 months into war after Oct. 7th, the Gaza front is winding down and the northern front is figuratively and (quite literally) heating up. Hezbollah has boasted of successfully running intelligence drones over Haifa, and started dozen of wildfires across the Golan Heights and Galilee, as their rockets have reached as far south as Tiberius.

In this episode of THE MORENO REPORT, Stephanie asks Marco about these developments and what the formal war will mean for the resident of the north. Upwards of 70,000 Israelis have lived as IDPs in the center of Israel after being evacuated from the Lebanese border in October 2023. However, hundreds of thousands of residents—both Jews and Arabs—have nowhere to go when Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies unleash their arsenals from behind both Lebanese and Syrian lines.

While Israel’s war against Hamas has devoted attention to the country’s southern front, all eyes are on the growing tension with Iranian proxies in Lebanon and Syria along the northern front. Several significant events took place in the last week, particularly Israel’s strike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus. Stephanie Quick sat down with IDF Lt. Col. (Res) Marco Moreno, who himself has 25 years history in army intelligence along this very front, and asked him about these events.

His response? “We are in escalation mode.”

It’s surreal to think six months have passed since the massacre of Oct. 7th, or to remember that 130+ hostages have been held in Gaza—mainly in tunnels underground—for half a year.
