Scenery provides a very useful and understandable excuse for playing poorly. Aesthetes and lovers of the world’s natural beauty usually have a very poor short game, being more interested in admiring the views from the infinity-edge greens than reading them.
Generally speaking, as most golfers know, a vista is far more enjoyable than a long bunker shot and the view from the tee better than your drive from it.
