Minister Aaron Hill continues through Jesus' prayer in John 17. In this section, Jesus prays for His disciples. He knows they will have trouble once He goes back to the Father, but He prays that they may have joy, and He prays for their sanctification, their setting apart for holiness, saying, "Sanctify them in the truth, Your Word is truth" (vs. 17). God's Word is both the message and the messenger made holy and pure by God. Though the world is evil, we cannot remove ourselves from it any more than the disciples could. Just as they were, we have been sent as a means through which people can be saved. We, too, must be sanctified in and by truth remembering that Jesus is the standard of truth.
