As Paul begins to bring this letter in for a landing, he comes to what is not only the most important problem, but ultimately is the root issue behind every other issue: the church in Corinth was getting its eyes off the gospel of Jesus Christ. They were a church consumed with divisions and lawsuits and tongues and sexual immorality and getting drunk over communion, and they couldn't see that they were losing altitude and were in danger of death by distraction.
