The murder of Kelly Nolan

Listen Later

It was June 23rd, 2007, a Friday night in the town of Whitewater, Wisconsin. Kelly Nolan, who was preparing to start the fall semester of her senior year at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, decided to spend the evening downtown with her friends. The night was filled with laughter and music, but as the clock struck 11:30 PM, Kelly's friends were ready to call it a night. However, Kelly was not quite ready to end the evening, so they parted ways, each heading home alone.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, Kelly placed a quick call to her sister April. Whatever the conversation entailed, April has never revealed its contents.
When Kelly failed to return home on June 25th, a wave of worry swept through her friends and family, leading to a missing person report being filed, and an investigation promptly initiated. One crucial lead emerged from the owner of Amy's Café, who informed investigators that one of his employees had started to walk Kelly home from the Lava Lounge on the night she disappeared. However, their journey was interrupted when they encountered a man who claimed to know Kelly. The employee left her with this man, and from that point on, the trail went cold.
The search for Kelly Nolan ended when her body was discovered sixteen days later in a wooded area in the town of Dunn. Police did not disclose much information, except that they believed Kelly's killer crossed paths with her after she separated from her friends, and is a local.
On January 9th, 2014, it was revealed that Kelly's death certificate had listed her cause of death as homicidal violence including blunt force trauma to her torso with fractures.
It has been over two decades since Kelly Nolan's body was discovered, and police have never announced a suspect. Who killed Kelly Nolan?
