Sylvia Likens was a beautiful, outgoing 16-year-old girl. In the Summer of 1965, her parents got the opportunity to work as food vendors with a traveling carnival, forcing them to leave Sylvia and her younger sister in the care of a family acquaintance for four months. They would prove to be the most agonizing and treacherous four months of Sylvia's life.
