Test the Spirits | Not Every Spiritual Voice Comes From God (1 John 4:1)

In this episode, we enter a sobering conversation rooted in 1 John 4:1—and why believers are commanded not to accept every spiritual voice, manifestation, prophecy, impression, or teaching without first testing its source.
This is not a message about becoming suspicious of everyone.
This is a spirit test.
The Bible does not tell us to believe every spirit because something feels powerful, sounds prophetic, uses the name of Jesus, or confirms what we desire. Scripture tells us to test the spirits because spiritual language alone is not evidence of spiritual truth.
Not everything supernatural is holy.
Not every open door is from God.
Not every accurate word carries the Spirit of truth.
And not every person who speaks about Jesus has surrendered to the character and lordship of Jesus.
Testing the spirits is not fear. It is obedience.

A voice may impress you and still fail the test.
A message may excite you and still pull your attention away from Jesus.
A spiritual experience may feel powerful and still produce fear, dependence, confusion, superiority, or control.
The question is not merely, “Was it supernatural?”
The question is, “What does it produce, whom does it exalt, and does it agree with the truth and character of Jesus Christ?”
The Spirit of God does not need manipulation to accomplish the will of God.
He does not seduce us through ego, bind us through fear, or demand that we abandon Scripture in order to prove that we have faith. The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus, produces holy fruit, and leads us deeper into truth, humility, freedom, love, and obedience.
Testing the spirits also requires us to test what is operating within our own hearts.
Are we drawn to a message because it is true—or because it makes us feel chosen?
Are we receiving a word because it reflects Jesus—or because it promises influence, vindication, recognition, or control?
Before we examine the vessel in front of us, we must invite God to examine the vessel within us.
Discernment without humility becomes suspicion.
Spiritual confidence without testing becomes vulnerability.
But truth, tested in the light of Scripture and surrendered to the Holy Spirit, does not fear examination.

Do not follow a voice simply because it knows your name.
Test what you hear.
Test what you feel.
Test what you desire.
