Episode 20 - The Myrtles (St. Francisville, LA)www.themyrtles.com@the_myrtles
The Myrtles is steeped with history and folklore that has been passed down since the 1700s. This is not a manufactured haunt for Halloween. This is a legitimately haunted home in the plantation town of St. Francisville, Louisiana. The home, named “One of Americas Most Haunted Homes” has been featured on National Geographic, Discovery Channel, HGTV, and the Travel Channel.
While the home is open year round for daytime historic tours and evening mystery tours, Halloween season brings huge crowds for the Evening Mystery Tours. These hour-long, guided tours take place through the downstairs six rooms of the main home and focus on the history, mystery and folklore of the property. Among other legends and ghost stories surrounding the Myrtles, you are certain to hear the story of William Winter, who died in 1871 on the 17th step of the staircase after being shot on the porch.
The Myrtles is also a Bed & Breakfast, with an onsite restaurant - Restaurant 1796 - and Elta Coffee shop. The grounds are open seven days a week and free for all to enjoy. Take advantage of complimentary self-guided walking tours of the grounds as well as a web-based version you can follow along on your phone.
You can grab more information about day and evening tours, overnight stays, and upcoming events on their website.
The evening mystery tours often sell out during the month of October, so book your times at themyrtles.com. Then check in for your tour at the Gift Shop when you arrive.
