In December 1933, New York attorney Agnes Colonia Tufverson married Captain Ivan Poderjay in what seemed like the start of a new life together. Just weeks later, the couple set sail on a European honeymoon—but only Ivan returned. Agnes had vanished without a trace.

Authorities later discovered troubling details: Ivan was already married, had a shady past, and Agnes had withdrawn $25,000 in cash before the voyage. Her disappearance sparked rumors of murder at sea, possible links to the infamous Brighton Trunk Murder, and suspicions surrounding the RMS Olympic and other ocean liners of the time.

Despite investigations, including extraditing Ivan Poderjay to face charges, no murder conviction was ever brought. The case remains one of the most mysterious unsolved true crimes of the 1930s.
