Homeland Security Mayorkas said in an interview that the board will work on ways to address disinformation “in a way that does not infringe on free speech, does not infringe on civil liberties.”
• Update to Melissa Lucio’s execution: Texas Court of Criminal Appeals granted her a stay of execution; her case now heads to a lower court for a hearing which will consider new evidence.
• Murder for Hire in San Antonio trial begins: Angelica Navarro-DePaz, the woman whom San Antonio police recorded trying to hire a hit man to kill her boyfriend’s sister in 2017, testified in her trial Friday that she was told it was “all a game” and was ordered to follow a detailed plan concocted by an informant police were relying on.
• Apple AirTag controversy: The $30 wireless devices were designed to help keep track of items people often misplace, like keys or wallets, but have been revealed to have been used by stalkers to track people.

• Newegg Scam? The company knowingly sent out defective products and denied returns when folks tried to return. Now the company is accepting returns “no questions asked” after media attention forced their hand.
• Tensions Escalate in Canada with Truckers/Protesters: A weeks-long blockade in the Canadian capital has led to almost 200 arrests and prolonged suffering for businesses caught in the middle of protests against Covid restrictions. Canadian authorities froze the finances associated with certain people and companies believed to be involved in the ongoing protests in Ottawa. Is this the working-class uprising?
• Catholic Church Meltdown Over Pronoun Usage: An Arizona priest resigned after using the incorrect pronoun when performing baptisms, last rites, etc. Instead of using “I” statements that invoke God, he used “we” statements that invoke community. The Church is saying those ceremonies… are now null void. Now further priests are coming out saying that they also used the wrong pronoun and it’s a big debacle.
• Love is Blind S2 Discussion: this season y’all is spicy!!! We have a Messica 2.0 and a love triangle in more than one sense.
