Pastor David continues his series, The Name Of Jesus, with part 4 on Wednesday in Dickinson.
There are three avenues by which a name is made great: by bestowal, by inheritance, and by
conquest. Jesus’ Name is great because His great Name came through all three avenues.
Today we’ll look at how His Name was made great through His conquest!
- Jesus obtained His great Name through the conquest of these principalities, power,
might, and dominion
Ephesians 1:19-21 NKJV and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us
who believe, according to the working of His mighty power (20) which He worked in
Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the
heavenly places, (21) far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and
every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
- Jesus defeated the enemy, humiliating him as a spectacle by parading him around
and exhibiting his defeat. Afterward, He took His seat at the right hand of the
Father at the throne of God.
Colossians 2:15 NKJV Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public
spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
- Jesus’ triumph is ours!
Ephesians 6:12 NKJV For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against
spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Hebrews 2:14-15 NKJV Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and
blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him
who had the power of death, that is, the devil, (15) and release those who through fear
of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
2 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in
Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
Those things that held us down can hold us no longer! The victory that Jesus
won, His triumph, the riches of the glory of His inheritance, all that He won, all
that He accomplished, is wrapped up in His Name and is available to us.
