The Name That Makes the Heart Tremble
“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.” — Psalm 8:1.
There are names that make us smile — names that bring good memories, or sometimes pain. But there is one Name above every name — the Name that makes the universe bow down. When David looked up at the sky, he felt small in the face of such vastness. The stars, the planets, the heavens — all reflected the greatness of a God too immense for words.
But the most amazing thing is this: that same God, so mighty and glorious, chose to be our Lord. David didn’t say “my Lord,” but “our Lord.” He reminds us that we are not the center of everything. God is. Everything we are and everything we do should revolve around Him.
Today, many young people are chasing after a name — a name that stands out, a name that shines online, a name that’s remembered. But this psalm reminds us that there is only one Name worthy of being exalted — the Name of the Lord. When His Name is lifted up on earth, our hearts finally find their true worth.
Think about it — how many times have you tried to be seen, noticed, admired… yet still felt empty? Maybe it’s because you’ve been trying to place your name where only God’s Name belongs. When we put God at the center, our focus shifts. Life suddenly makes sense.
The same God who placed His glory in the heavens wants to place His presence inside you. He wants people to look at your life and see a reflection of Him — someone who lives to exalt the Name that is above every name.
Today, pause for a moment and look up at the sky. Feel the greatness of this God. And then say from your heart:
“Lord, let Your Name be admired through my life. Let the world see Your glory in me.”
Don’t live to make your own name known.
Live to make His Name impossible to forget.
