Narcissist's Playbook: they WILL
FORCE the situation
CONTROL the narrative, and
HIDE the truth.

They have been hiding right before our eyes, through our excuses and enabling.  Until you call out someone else's behavior, you're enabling it.  Narcissists hide in our emotional outbreaks and their titles.  We will not see them until we learn how to control our emotions.

Going through old memories allowed me to look at the past with new eyes.   I know now after revisiting old letters that my mother kept evidence that disputed what she told me about my father,  painting her as the victim.   I am getting to know what type of man he was from the people who loved him, not someone who tainted his memory out of jealousy.
