Self-care is honoring God.

Jesus practiced rest, solitude, and self-care.

You are not being selfish or vain. It’s so you have health to serve others.

You can’t pour from an empty cup.

Neglect leads to burnout.

Daily Self-Care Habits

* Start your day with prayer

* Be grateful

* Nourish your body with good food

* Prioritize rest

* Mix with other believers who encourage you

* Guard your heart and mind by limiting your exposure to media

Taking care of yourself is a form of worship.

Selfishness, pride, and vanity are sin, but taking care of yourself is part of being a new creation.

We have a responsibility to take care of ourselves, for we are the temple of the Holy Spirit.

I mean, we have to understand our temperament and how we respond to certain people and situations.

The devil wages war on our souls, so to get free, we have to be prepared to do battle with the enemy.

You have to fight for your life!

He Restores My Soul

“He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

Clutter will distract you from the things of God.

To grow spiritually, you need to take deliberate steps to make room for the Spirit to dwell and move in you.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

If you have died with Christ, you are dead to sin.

Sin no longer has control over you.

You once walked in darkness, but now you walk in the light.

The Apostle Paul tells us this in the Book of Romans:

“What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

— Romans 6:1-4

No longer slaves to sin

Sin has no place in our lives now that we are saved.

When we repent and renounce all sin in our life, we die to the old self.

Just as Jesus died and rose from the dead, so do we.

This is what our new life is all about. We are born-again.

We receive a new spirit.

At baptism, our old self is crucified with Christ, and sin is taken away from our bodies.

“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.”

— Romans 6: 5-7

The New Life

You have been called to be holy.

“You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”

Romans 6:18

Rewiring the Brain

As born-again believers (new creations In Christ), we have to unlearn all that we learned up to the day of our salvation.

We have to have our minds renewed.

To walk in the light of God, we must be working on ourselves continuously, but we do not have to do it alone. We have a helper, our Advocate, the Holy Spirit.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

— Romans 12:2

If we are sincere in our goal to become spiritually mature, we have to be ready to learn more about others and how we can communicate more effectively with them.

This requires a lot of work - it requires humility and maturity.

We have to be ready to become self-aware to see where we are going wrong in our dealings with others and how we can be better communicators.

“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[b] says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

— Romans 9:9-21

Hi brothers and sisters!

This episode gives you a basic outline on how to grow spiritually.

# 1. Spend time with God daily

Establish a routine: prayer, reading the Bible, worship, meditation, and journaling.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

— Matthew 6:33

#2. Apply what you read in the Bible

Growth comes from taking action.

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

— James 1:22

#3. Get around people who also want to grow spiritually

Who you spend time with has a huge impact on you.

A good Christian friend can help you more than you realize.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

— Proverbs 27:17

#4. Serve others

When you serve others, you are less focused on yourself.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

— 1 Peter 4:10

#5. Work on improving your relationships

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

— Mark 12:30-31
