Today is February 2, 2017. Travel back with me to this date in 1876. Today we’re taking our baseball time machine to the Central Hotel in New York City, where we’ll sit in on a clandestine meeting between eight of the game’s most prominent teams as they organize the National League, splitting off from the rest of organized baseball and laying the groundwork for the business of baseball that we know today.
