Our Starchasers are rapidly approaching a final confrontation; all the while, we have been down a member.  It’s about time we check in on Destin, held captive within the Scav camp.  What horrors have been witnessed?  What insight can be gained from his imprisonment?  Will we ever see Destin again?

It appears the StarChasers have won this joust of wits.  Now we see how valuable the aid of a Saint can be.  With the future confrontation seemingly inevitable, it's time for the StarChasers, the Dungpile and The Diamond to prepare.  Can you ever be fully ready for the destruction to follow?  Will history remember this as an act of pragmatic self-defense or the perpetuation of senseless violence?

StarChasing Episode 49: Diamonds are Forever

The negotiations have started off well.  The unexpected revealing of Caric’s connection to the Diamond may prove to tip the scales in their favor.  With their foot in the door, now comes the difficult task of garnishing aid.  Especially challenging with the opposition smugly positioned across the table, prepared to play the contrarian at every twist and turn.  This parley may determine the fate of the valley and the fate of the StarChasers…

Desperation

We come face to face with another Scav leader.  Still licking their wounds from the last one of Hellest’s lackeys they met, our Chasers’ hackles are raised.  This charming troubadour possesses a silver tongue and a golden fiddle, but make no mistake, this could easily be our deadliest encounter yet.  As the Scavs horde’s chief diplomat it will take all of our heroes wit and cunning to out smart the one they call Johnny Boy…

The return to their home city is not as happy of an occasion as hoped.  Instead, moving quickly, the Chasers leverage any advantage, connection or coercion to get as close to their goal as possible.  Once inside the palace our beleaguered travelers finalize their plan and pray The Diamond is kind to harbingers of bad news.  Before they can plead their case, a terrible truth unfolds; someone else has had the same idea and they got here first…

With little time to waste, our party approaches the Dungpile to enact their plan.  Although they are disheartened to have to do it without Destin.  There’s tension in the air and the locals are already clearing out.  We have no choice but to petition aid from the most powerful man in the area.  The Devil Saint, Kierian the Diamond (aka “The Beetle”).  All Saints are strong-willed and powerful, but Devil Saints are especially known for being aloof and capricious.  Let’s see if our increasingly desperate heroes can even get an audience with this Diamond in the rough…

The day is won, but at what cost?  Truely a pyrrhic victory just to exchange 3 hostages for 1 prisoner.  Not to mention Rylis’ close call with Death, something, I’m afraid to say, that will stalk our StarChasers for many days to come.  The leaders of these Scavs are not to be taken lightly, especially with the boon of a Saint at their beck and call.  Now is the time to rest and make plans, but it looks as if we’ll need nothing short of a miracle
