Water flow in the natural world is directional due to currents and tides, which makes sense. In the spirit to have rivers of Living water flow...concerns the Spirit of God,  the Holy Spirit 

So when you are flowing in the spirit you are flowing according to the Direction of God (3rd person in the Trinity)
