For over seventy years, The Nature Conservancy has cultivated a reputation as a nonpartisan, science-based conservation agency more interested in buying and protecting land than engaging in electoral politics. That nonpartisan stance has generally served the organization well. As of 2021, The Nature Conservancy had over a million members and had permanently protected 119 million acres of critical habitat worldwide.
