I have an obsession with courage. This is probably because I often lack it and would like to have more. It is also because over the last six years, the primary virtue that Christians have needed is courage. We live under what often feels like, in Rod Dreher’s words, “soft totalitarianism.” We are told what to think, what to say, and if we step out of line there will be awkward silence or hostile pushback.
