As if the 2020 election was not important enough, over the weekend, it became even more important. Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died. With her death, loads of controversy started to play out. Democrats argue that Republicans should not fill the seat while Republicans argue that they have a duty to fill the seat.
Democrats argue that Republicans set a precedent in 2016 when they blocked the appointment of Merrick Garland. Even if Republicans had held a vote, Garland would not have been appointed to the high court. The situation is simply not the same. Democrats played their hand in 2016, as they appointed the justice. Had the Democrats had the majority in the Senate, you would have Justice Garland on the high court instead of Justice Gorsuch.
In 2016, just like it will happen again in 2020, our government operated just like it should. The system of checks and balances worked. Democrats are upset that they will not get their way and are vowing to do anything in their power to block any appointment by Trump. They have threatened violence and political retaliation if they were to win in 2020, which brings us to the heart of the story.
This makes the 2020 election even more critical. Trump will appoint a new justice, and the Senate will most likely confirm that justice. Then Democrats have already said what they will do. They will work to stack the court. They will work to reshape and stack the Senate. They will dramatically change and reshape the entire United States.
This is not just a hope, and change statement like Obama made. This is a direct threat to conservatives that Democrats will go nuclear. They will eliminate conservatives from any chance of power or representation. This does not make this election the most important of our lifetime, but quite possibly the most important in the history of our country.
Now, more than ever, we need to be praying for our country. We need to be praying that our country would remember the one thing that united us as Americans. We were one nation under God. Without realizing we need God, we will never return to any form of the United States.
