In this episode, Doug Fabrizio of RadioWest interviews Margaret Young, Marvin Perkins, Russell Stevenson, and John Dehlin about the Mormon church’s new generic "topics" web page entitled “Race and the Priesthood.”
Important notes everyone should about this new page addressing a very old & disgusting topic: there is no signature from the Prophet, First Presidency, Apostles, the Presiding Bishopric or even a Seventy. There is NO REFERENCE to this page ANYWHERE on LDS.ORG, especially in the Newsroom, as they just simply put it on their topics page. This story was broken by the local Utah media.
So, in my book, it's not official! More importantly, they STILL have not apologized, disavowed or outright admitted that all previous Prophets & Apostles were NOT INSPIRED OF GOD, which is pretty obvious.
John Dehlin is the ONLY person in this interview that makes any common sense at all or that stands up for what is right & human decency. Kudos to John! I don't always agree with what John Dehlin says or does & have no problem disagreeing with him publicly, but in this instance, he is spot-on and was the only guest that even cares about humanity or right or wrong.
The other guests in this interview should all be ashamed of themselves and are disgraceful, especially Russell Stevenson, who is a die-hard Mormon Apologist and will apparently make excuses and justifications for ANYTHING in Mormon history or doctrine, even horrific racism. I've really grown to despise Mormon apologists like him over the last 8+ years & he only 1000% confirmed my feelings toward those like him!
You could easily tell that Russell Stevenson despises John Dehlin..when John first came on, he said a very friendly "hi Russell" to which Russell said..NOTHING..TOTAL SILENCE! After a few hearty disagreements, unfortunately cut off by time constraints, it was pretty obvious how he really feels about John Dehlin.
Only question is why John Dehlin remains or returned to the cult..maybe this issue will be what will finally forces John to leave & NOT come back this time! There has to be a breaking point for him too, right? One can only hope!
In any case, this was a very enlightening conversation & Doug Fabrizio did a great job in my opinion!! Those who think he was a homer for the Mormon cult did not listen to the interview..LISTEN AGAIN..he was very fair & gave John quite a bit of time to speak uninterrupted!
