Nick Edmund is the founder of Global Golf 4 Cancer. Global Golf 4 Cancer was founded in Great Britain & Ireland by four-time cancer survivor Nick Edmund, GG4C has developed into a genuinely global campaign whose mission is to inspire the golfing community to ‘fly the flag’ and support cancer fighters worldwide.
On the 4th March 2017 Nick launched the "4 Flag Campaign" when he began a walk of almost 2,000km (1,200 miles) along the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland carrying a set of golf clubs. The purpose of this ‘golf-walk’ was to visit 40 golf clubs and personally deliver a GG4C 4-Flag to each club after playing their 4th hole – so raising awareness for the campaign and its goals. Following a successful launch in Ireland and the completion of a second awareness-creating 'Turnberry to Dornoch' golf-walk in Scotland, Global-Golf4-Cancer has been establishing a series of regional flag-flying campaigns as well as a selection of special GG4C events throughout the golfing world.
By the end of 2019 the Global Golf 4 Cancer flag had flown on all 6 continents and at such famous venues as St Andrews, Pebble Beach, Royal Liverpool, Ballybunion, The Olympic Course in Rio, Durban Country Club, Royal Montreal, The Jockey Club in Buenos Aires and Royal Portrush. Currently 400 of the world's finest golf clubs raise the flag on important dates and occasions, and at special tournaments and events. Nick a qualified barrister from Bristol University, started his illustrious career in golf in his early 20’s when asked by a house mate who had produced a best-selling guide to Great Britain’s hors) race courses, called Travelling the Turf to write and edit the 1st edition of "Following the Fairways" in 1997. Fourteen annual editions where eventually published. Nick current still writes for Links Magazine and also assisted with the David Cannon tribute to Seve Ballesteros: Seve His Life Through the Lens.
In 1997 Nick had a dramatic career change when he was appointed the General Manager of none other than Sir Nick Faldo Golf Design. A role he would hold for 15 years and eventually designing courses on all 6 Continents. In April 2014 Life changed dramatically for Nick when a large lump appeared, seemingly ‘out of nowhere’, on the right side of his neck. It was quickly diagnosed as ‘head and neck cancer’. Nick has subsequently survive the dreaded cancer 4 times and as of today Jan 2023 has been cancer free for over 3.5 years. It’s clear to see why 4 is an important number in Nick life and in golf terms.
Based on the GOAT Signature Course series we asked Nick to design his Scotland “Home of Golf’ Signature Course. A selection of Nick’s favourite Links golf holes across Scotland 1 through 18 as they play on the respective courses. Nick takes us on a magical journey across some of the most iconic, historic and esteemed Links courses Scotland has to offer. There can be now better place to visit and play Links Golf
