This is the night.

The Easter Vigil walks through the entire story of salvation before announcing the resurrection. Creation. Abraham's sacrifice. The Red Sea crossing. The covenant of love. The invitation to come without price. The gift of wisdom. The promise of a new heart.

And then the stone is rolled away.

The women came expecting a corpse. They found an empty tomb, an angel with an announcement, and a risen Lord standing on the road to meet them.

He is not here. He has been raised.

Tonight the Church lights the Paschal candle in darkness. One flame becomes many. Death has lost. Light spreads. Alleluia returns.
