Peta-Gaye Nash was born in Kingston, Jamaica and has made Mississauga, Ontario home for twenty years. She is the author of a collection of short adult fiction, I Too Hear the Drums, and seven children’s books, all available on Amazon. Her latest children’s book Bushyhead is about black hair, self-acceptance, gratitude, and compassion. Bushyhead is based on the experiences of her daughter and two nieces.

“All the children’s books I’ve written are based on my experiences as a mother and teaching children important life lessons. Bushyhead is no different. I wanted my daughter to know that her hair is beautiful and is to be embraced, no matter what society says. There’s no better way to teach kids than through stories and songs. Since I can’t sing, I write stories.”

Peta-Gaye’s short stories and poems have appeared in several anthologies and she blogs on her website petagayenash.com about all manner of things, especially personal growth and self-help. In 2015, she won the Marty Awards for Emerging Literary Art as well as two Observer Literary Awards in her hometown, Kingston, Jamaica. Peta-Gaye teaches English as a Second Language at Malton Neighbourhood Services and she is currently working on her new passion, poetry.
