Today is January 2, 2017. Travel back with me to this date in 1879. We’re in the great Midwest where an upstart minor league called the Northwestern League is being formed. It won’t last long – not even a full season, but it will prove to be a resilient little league that sees several reincarnations and produces a star or two before collapsing for good in 1922.
