Paul, in Romans 4:23 - 5:17, takes his readers from the assurance of saving faith, which is acquired by trusting in God who promised salvation. First, God promised Abraham and then to all who believe with the faith of Abraham. Abraham believed that if he sacrificed his son as God instructed him, God would raise him from the dead. Hence, salvation is in the promise of God to sacrifice and raise His Son from the dead.
