Occultism is a vague collective term for a variety of phenomenon areas, practices, and worldview systems, where "occult" can roughly be equated with esoteric, paranormal, mystical, or supernatural. Often the term carries a negative connotation and is associated with black magic or evil practices. Fundamentally, however, the term is neutral.
