Too Many Chances
Who doesn't like a good alpha billionaire love story? I know I do and one of the reasons I read this series. The story line line kept me turning the pages to see where Gatsby and Annabelle ended up. Annabelle honestly had more patience and forgiveness than most humans. I was quite surprised these two found their HEA, but Ms. Byrd didn't fail me. Really hoping Maggie finds her love story since she was such a great friend to Annabelle and can't wait to see what happens to the other two Wild brothers.
Eh..
I read this book because of all the great reviews... of which I'm a little baffled. I'm not one to criticize an author's work, I think it's amazing that they can write stories for our entertainment. With that being said, I literally forced myself to finish this book. For starters the hero has a stupid name that I hated reading. Tristan was a great name the author should have stuck with... Gatsby?? Ugh...and to top it off, he was a Jerk throughout the whole book.. minus the first three chapters. Was he bipolar? Probably, but that wasn't written in. The heroine was a spineless doormat and I found myself skipping sections just to get through the book. The writing style was also a little annoying. The use of contractions would have helped this story flow better.
I didn't hate it, but it was like store bought pizza
I didn't hate it, but it was like store bought pizza. You'll eat it, but you'd rather have something more authentic. The potential is there, I saw where the characters could have been developed, but Tristan is so flat and I couldn't relate to Annabelle's feelings. There are unnecessary page breaks, for example, he pops out of the water "He tosses his head and all hair from his face dances and falls into place. A beautiful, friendly smile forming on his lips." PAGE BREAK "I'm Tristan," he says. (Mind you they are still in the water.) This happens a lot and it doesn't jive well with the flow of the story.
Not Exactly What I was Expecting...
This story had a good plot, I just feel that it didn't build well. The main character's love interest,Tristan, is overly apologetic as much as the main character is a nag... The relationship peaks after a week or so, and the entire backdrop of the story is rushed, spending more time concentrating on inconsequential events, and less on the actual plot. I had pretty high expectations for this book, given the previous views, but turned out obviously disappointed. Even the ending was stopped abruptly, which I felt it could have been wrapped up nicer. Like I said, the plot was a good idea, I just was left wanting so much more...
So disappointed
I just finished this book and I'm honestly just sitting here wondering what I just spent my time reading.
