After an abysmal effort by the Oilers over the final 40 minutes of Game 5, today's episode of Oilersnation Radio was a tough one for all of us to record. Needless to say, we thought the second episode of ONR of the week was going to be a lot happier than it ended up being, but that's the NHL playoffs for you. We started the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about what we expect the Oilers to do better in Game 6 than they did last night in Vancouver. Given that the team played as poorly as they did at Rogers Arena, there are plenty of areas where the Oilers can improve, and we tried to outline as many of those spots as possible.  Changing gears, we looked at the goaltending decision that's coming for Game 6. A lot of Oilers fans would easily go back to Pickard after his performance in Vancouver, but does that mean Kris Knoblauch will feel the same way? Regardless of what decision he makes, there will be plenty of pressure on either guy to come through with a clutch performance.  Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold Performers before wrapping up the podcast with some score predictions ahead of Game 6 against the Vancouver Canucks. Oilers on the brink of elimination

The Oilers find themselves down 2-1 in their series against the Vancouver Canucks, and that means the pressure is on for our boys to rebound tonight at Rogers Place.
We kicked off the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about the Oilers' goaltending, specifically whether giving Calvin Pickard the start in Game 4 was the right call. Given that Skinner has been the team's starter for the entire 2023-24 season, it is a curious decision for Kris Knoblauch to make in such a crucial playoff game.  Changing gears, we looked back at Game 3 and how that game should have been an Oilers win had it not been for the costly errors in their own zone and inability to get a save. Even though a lot of Oilers fans are pointing their finger at Stuart Skinner, we talked about the larger team issues that contributed to the loss rather than just singling out one guy.  Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Dan's 3v3 game and Woz's signature segment 'Can You Clear That Up For Me' before wrapping up the podcast with a few score predictions ahead of tomorrow's Game 1 against the Vancouver Canucks.


Basically every Oilers player needs to be better in Game 4

It's Friday afternoon and the Oilers are hours away from taking on the Canucks for Game 2, and that meant an on-the-road edition of Oilersnation Radio to preview the evening and recap what went wrong on Wednesday. We started the podcast with a delicious debate about why we should remain optimistic ahead of Game 2 even though things went horribly wrong on Wednesday in Game 1. From the Oilers' ability to rebound after a bad night to Connor McDavid being held shotless, there were details from the first game in this series that are unlikely to repeat for two straight games. Looking back on Game 1, we talked about the way the Oilers collapsed in the third period and how they need to keep pushing forward rather than trying to lock things down. When you're up against a skilled team like the Vancouver Canucks, sitting back to try and ride the clock out is a risky move.  Finally, we wrapped up the podcast with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold Performers before offering our score predictions ahead of Game 2. Oilers need a rebound effort in Game 2

Kicking off the Tuesday episode of ONR, we got started with a delicious debate about whether or not anything concerns us about the upcoming series against the Vancouver Canucks. Given that most pundits have the Oilers winning this series, should we be concerned about the Canucks rolling into the series with an underdog mentality? Sticking with the Oilers, we looked at some of the lineup details that came out this morning. Unfortunately for Edmonton, it looks like Adam Henrique will miss Game 1 with a lower-body injury sustained lane in Round 1, meaning someone else will need to step up in his place.  Changing gears, we looked around the NHL at some of the other series that are already underway and whether there's a matchup outside of our own that we're excited about. We also looked back at Round 1 and discussed whether or not we were disappointed that the Golden Knights got bumped, eliminating any possibility of exacting revenge.  Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Dan's 3v3 game before wrapping up the podcast with a few score predictions ahead of tomorrow's Game 1 against the Vancouver Canucks.

This week, we recapped Game 5 from Edmonton vs. L.A., looked ahead at what's to come in Round 2, and welcomed former Oiler Brendan Perlini to the show to talk playoffs, positivity, and whatever else is going on in his life.  Kicking off the Friday podcast, we started ONR with a delicious debate about who was the Oilers' MVP and unsung hero during the first round of the playoffs before diving into a recap from Game 5, where the Oilers wrapped up Round 1 and sent the Kings to book tee times.
