The Bible explains two covenants distinctly given: one old and one new. The old covenant was a shadow of things to come, particularly the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and man's great need for Him, our Savior and Great High Priest. The New Covenant was actually formed before the foundation of the world, but was kept hidden until the glorious appearing of Christ. The New Covenant is exceedingly better than the old, and did for us what we could not do ourselves.
