Great beginner's guide, baby steps
I bought this book because several of the calmest, most positive people I know recommended meditation as a way to ease my anxiety. I found this book very helpful. To be clear, I had no prior experience or knowledge of meditation besides the fact that I always drifted off when I tried! So if you've read about the practice before, this probably isn't the best book. But if you, like me, are new to this and want an easy overview and to get started right away with baby steps, I highly recommend it.
Awesome book
Excellent reading. I not only got great ideas for meditating, I got real life experiences and a thorough understanding of how the mind works
Five Stars
Good advice on meditation
Reads too much like a text book
It contained a lot of information on what meditation can do for you and research to back this up and very little on actually learning the practice of meditation. I did not find it at all helpful.
I would recommend instead "8 Minute Meditation" by Victor Davich. It is fun to read, very thorough in its explanations and guides you step-by-step through learning to meditate. I read it many months ago and because of "8 Minute Meditation" I am still meditating on a daily basis.
Very Basic Meditation
Supplier was great, but, this book is very basic. Anyone really looking for ways to slow down during the day and meditate for a few minutes should look somewhere else.
