Before they were streaming services that allowed you to make playlists, there was the mixtape. It was a collection of songs that you put together onto a cassette tapes from records that you owned or borrowed from your friends, or from other cassettes you had in your collection. Sometimes you might’ve spent up to an hour listening to the radio, waiting for the right song to come on to tape it.

In this episode, John and Steve reach deep into their basement bins and pull out two of their original mixtapes from the '80s. John dives into college radio and indie hits, while Steve runs through a number of pop songs that were MTV classics during '81 -'83. Both tapes have a mix of obscure tracks and easily recognizable tunes.
