The Other 16, Part 2 (Women)
The Holy Spirit is calling women back to discipline, purity, reverence, and love. Not the watered-down version the world promotes, but the raw truth of His Word.
The Other 16 Part 2
*- One of the major strategies demons use against Christians isn’t what occurs during the eight (8) hours we spend at work or school, but what takes place during the sixteen (16) hours we spend away from our day’s commitments, mostly spent with our biological or adoptive family members.
*- This series examines “the other 16” hours of our day—when we’re not at work or school—and how those hours reveal whether our lives truly belong to the Lord, and what to do to submit to Him if not.
*- What are a few facets of women’s lives that the Bible sheds light on?
3 Bid the older women similarly to be reverent and devout in their deportment as becomes those engaged in sacred service, not slanderers or slaves to drink. They are to give good counsel and be teachers of what is right and noble,
4 So that they will wisely train the young women to be sane and sober of mind (temperate, disciplined) and to love their husbands and their children,
*- love (of wife): the special affection of a woman for her life-time mate (husband), embracing him as her "calling" (stewardship) from God. *(This is the only occurrence of this love in the Bible).
*- love (of mother): fond (affect-ion) of one's children, i.e., maternal. *(This is the only occurrence of this love in the Bible).
5 To be self-controlled, chaste, homemakers, good-natured (kindhearted), adapting and subordinating themselves to their husbands, that the word of God may not be exposed to reproach (blasphemed or discredited).
*- self-controlled: restraining one's desires and impulses, temperate
*- chaste: pure from carnality, modest (dressing or behaving so as to avoid impropriety or indecency, especially to avoid attracting sexual attention.
*- homemakers: caring for the house, keeping at home and taking care of household affairs, domestic
*- good-natured: of the feeling awakened by what is good, pleasant, agreeable, joyful, happy
6 In a similar way, urge the younger men to be self-restrained and to behave prudently [taking life seriously].
Titus 2:3-6 AMPC
*- This message is especially for women, because the Holy Spirit wants those who desire marriage to recognize and discern a strong characteristic of a truly godly man.
*- urge: warn; admonish
*- self-restrained: to deny one's passions
22 Wives, be subject (be submissive and adapt yourselves) to your own husbands as [a service] to the Lord.
23 For the husband is head of the wife as Christ is the Head of the church, Himself the Savior of [His] body.
24 As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands.
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her,
Ephesians 5:22-25 AMPC
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Ephesians 5:33 AMPC
*- reverence: venerate (regard with great respect), to treat with deference (humble submission to a person or a person's desires or qualities) or reverential obedience.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Proverbs 31:27 AMPC
*- looketh well: continues to carefully watch; keeps watch
*- to the ways: everything that is done—of goings and doings
*- idleness: avoidance of activity or exertion; habitual laziness
*- bread: unearned
*- eateth: of peaceful enjoyment of the results of labour
*- Godly women aren’t lazy, while still desiring someone else’s wages to bring them peace and enjoyment.
Lifework Assignment:
1. Every woman, ask the Holy Spirit to examine your heart according to the Word of God from today.
2. Have a personal conversation with Him concerning what He reveals and instructs.
Expected Behavior:
*- The way we live in “the other 16” hours of our days proves whether we wholeheartedly belong to God and wholeheartedly desire to fully obey His Word.
