In this episode I thought it would be interesting to go back and listen to the other Presidents who have made recordings during the history of Presidential recordings. It wasn't just Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon that took advantage of the new technology of the 20th century.
Here you will get to have a window on history as we listen in on a couple of the great crisis of the 20th century, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty negotiations, plus briefing the former Presidents on policy as well. It is a window on the Presidency itself. We will hear from Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Dwight Eisenhower, Harry Truman, and Herbert Hoover. We will also get to hear Presidents performing the ceremonial parts of the job as Presidents Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan make calls to outer space and, in the case of LBJ, we will get to hear him talk to a man who had been underwater for nearly a month.
Plus we will get to eavesdrop on the Secret Service while they deal with the scariest of moments for anyone in security, the attempted assassination of a President. I thought this was an interesting an enlightening show and thought you would enjoy it as well.
For it was not just Nixon who recorded himself doing the job of President.
