The Outlook for Caribbean Tourism: 2021 and Beyond

Will tourism in the Caribbean rebound strongly in the remaining months of 2021? We got three perspectives on that question in this episode. What's certain is that the sooner economic activity in the sector picks up strongly, the better it will be for the thousands affected by lay offs, closures, and shut-downs throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. But how do we guard against Covid be re-introduced into our countries by travelers? Well, most countries already have plans. We talk about that. And we also talk about the future of the sector, and its untapped potential for domestic investors and Caribbean citizens. 

The host is Kieron Murdoch. The guests are:

  1. Adrien Loveridge, who recently moved back to the UK after 24 years are a small hotel owner in Barbados. He has spent 52 years in the tourism industry across dozens of countries both in travel and hospitality. He’s been a director of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association, and a director of the Barbados Tourism Authority. He is a frequent writer on tourism.
  2. Greg Phillip, the CEO of Nevis Sun Tours, a tour operator and destination management company in St. Kitts and Nevis. Greg Phillip is the immediate past CEO of the Nevis Tourism Authority and he has over 20 years of experience in travel and tourism.
  3. Leo Garbutt MBE, the current President of the Grenada Hotel & Tourism Association. He is also a member of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association executive committee. The Garbutt family owns and operates the Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel in Grenada and Leo Garbutt has decades of experience in the hotel sector.
