Aloha and welcome to another episode of Random Acts of Living, this week has been a real doozy! I had planned an epic road trip in the ART V with a good friend to Moab, Arches, and Zion.. and just when I thought the world was looking a little brighter, my parents had the first dose of the vaccine, the first day out on the road bad luck struck and the engine kind of blew up and all the coolant came pouring out only 120 miles from home!!!???? Oh but wait, gentle listener, it gets better because then my father called me and let us know that he had tested positive for COVID .. He is doing well and feeling better, but so much running my head in how to keep safe ourselves and how to keep other people safe.
However this episode is not that story, nope, that will probably become a podcast miniseries special.. This episode is a soothing salve to that chaotic circus a lovely talk story session with Dave on his story of working with the Democratic party in the pandemic for the 2020 election.. What was it actually like coming to a small town in rural Iowa and not be able to meet with many of your volunteers in person or voters? This was the first campaign Dave worked on having been in the Marines for over 20 years so I was curious as to what makes that sort of shift in mindset and how do we take the lessons learned from his experience into other ways in which we move forward together as a society.
From where I sit if each of us is able to communicate the story of our work for the community's well being the more we can discuss what are the commonalities in our lives.
If we can access that side of ourselves maybe the "inner Dave" in each of us, something as simple as where one actually IS in the world with intent. can make a mindful difference.
Mahalo for listening!
