The Pandemic Crushed Populism
I briefly discuss a new global report from Cambridge Universities' Centre for the Future of Democracy (CFD) which describes how the political fortunes of populist governments have faltered during the global pandemic.
The report, published January 18, 2022 - which sampled over half a million people across 109 countries since 2020 - attributes the demise of populists to:
'... the botch job made of the pandemic by populist governments: from Bolsonaro’s mask veto to Trump’s “bleach injection” suggestion.'
Or was it divine intervention?
